5 Gifts Your Coffeeholic Dad Will Love

5 Gifts Your Coffeeholic Dad Will Love

A son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love. How exactly do we say thank you to the most important man in our lives without reusing the same ol’ ideas like a cheesy “Best Dad Ever” mug? We’ve done the brainstorming for you and here’s our five top picks of gifts for Dads who love coffee almost as much as love their kids.

1) Handpresso Auto Espresso Maker

Handpresso-Auto-Espresso-Maker.jpg For all the rushed mornings that saw Dad sacrificing his sleep to ferry you to your destination, it's time you did something in return! The Handpresso is a mobile coffee device that will definitely come in handy the next time Dad has to forgo his morning coffee. Believe it or not, we’ve actually fortuitously met the Dad of one of the engineers who made the Handpresso possible. We were at an eatery in Aceh and saw this burly, grey-haired man using the Handpresso. We must have behaved like kids in a candy store, because he motioned for us to come over and offered us his freshly brewed coffee. Then as modestly as he could, shared that his son was one of the brilliant minds behind this gadget. With nothing more than a 12v cigarette lighter, the Handpresso has a 16-bar pressure and is capable of heating up and pulling a shot of coffee in just 2 minutes.

2) Nespresso Machine

769995235.png.jpeg Not as novel as the above, but the Nespresso machine is another gadget we’re becoming increasingly dependent on. The men in our lives love a decadently black cup, at least one every morning, and the Nespresso machine is the easiest, foolproof way to get there. We can’t top you from getting the original pods along with the machine, but if you want to introduce Dad to better tasting, specialty-grade coffee (and it’s probably about time), then why not try our Nespresso-compatible ShotPods? We’ve a list of reasons to believe our ShotPods are better, and you can read about that here. We currently have 3 different ShotPods (and are launching 2 new varieties at the end of the month - a decaf, and an extra intense one). We hope you know your dad’s preferences well enough to use our recommendation engine. If you don’t, just pretend you do and we suggest going for Bird of Paradise because it’s the boldest of the 3.

3) A Good (Coffee-Related) Read

For all the Dads who spend their weekends poring over a book with a cup of coffee in hand, a great read would be the perfect gift. A recommended read is the God in a Cup: The Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Coffee by Michaele Weissman. It’s one of our favourites that we almost religiously recommend it to all our friends (at least those interested enough to ask), because it combines our passion for coffee with a sense of adventure and wanderlust, and is line with our believe that coffee specialty coffee shouldn’t just be about better coffee but also about sustainable livelihoods and making a difference in people’s lives and the environment. 2805445353_341efa7956_b.jpg

 4) Hario Coffee Mill Slim Grinder

51LZlieTMzL._SL1000_.jpg To get the most delicious cup of coffee, nothing beats freshly-ground beans, and it’s never too late to really appreciate coffee. Hand-grinding beans can be therapeutic but we won’t deny it gets boring and it takes time. But think about it, this could be the best gift for your retired Dad. It’s a great way for him to slow down, meditate, and practise his motor skills if you ask me! The Hario Coffee Mill Slim Grinder (found at most specialty cafes and at all Isetan stores) is large enough to make two cups of coffee at a time, so he can brew a cup of joe for mum too. Dad can adjust the grind size to his preferred brew method too.

5) Hook Coffee Subscription

Pouring coffee Last but not least, if you’re looking to keep Dad’s fresh coffee supply consistently replenished, just like how he always made sure you have more than enough, then look no further. You can get Dad a coffee subscription (even if you’re not sure about his drinking frequency and preferences). Our gifts feature allows you to do just that. All you have to do is: 1. Choose a gift amount 2. Present Dad with the gift voucher 3. He chooses what he wants 4. We deliver it to him, as frequently as he needs We're pretty sure that for your (coffee)loving dad, nothing beats a fuss-free coffee subscription that guarantees delicious freshness, tailored to his brewing habits and preferences!

We hope this list has been helpful! Good luck with finding the perfect gift and have a great family weekend together - but first, coffee!
